My great grand-uncle was Tom Browne, King of Whistlers. He was well-known in vaudeville and was a favorite of the Prince of Wales in the 1890s. You can read more about him at my website. No recordings have been found - still looking!
He invented double-note whistling in the 1870s and was the only person in the world who could do this in the 1890s.

On Thanksgiving (11/27/08), I heard the great whistler Robert Stemmons with Cirque du Soleil in Miami. I met him backstage and he demonstrated his double-note whistling.
